Your story is cute but...

There is a heated debate about "commenting" at one of the readers forums: A Happy Assembly.

The argument is: for freely available stories on Internet, should readers give constructive criticism to writers?

Some writers argue that they don't want comments like "I love the story", "The story is cute". They want comments that point out their mistakes, plot holes, unreasonable characterisation.

Other writers don't want that as they are only ameteur writers. Any criticism, constructive or bad, will stop them from writing.

On the readers' side, some argue that they don't know how to give literary comments but by writing "The story is cute", they are already showing their support for the story.

What do you think?
