Smack him or help him?

I tried to write Part 3 of Darcy's Chilling Proposal.

In this short story, I was going to make Mr. Bingley a scoundrel. But in the last minute, I tried to save him and put the blame on another person. But Mr. Bingley turned out to be a spineless puppet. I don't like what I've written. I'm undecided if I should go back to the original plan or continue with this.

Urgh! I want to smack Mr. Bingley's head and ask him to stand up and be a man.

What do you suggest?

  1. I think you are absolutely right. He needs a good smack on the head. Go back to the original, Jane needs a man not a jellyfish. But anything you do is OK 'cause I love your story telling. And if I could figure out how to send this without "Anonymous" I would! Maybe my antiquated brain along with my old Toyota are just not "hip" enough!

  2. I agree, that Jane needs a man not a little worm wriggling around trying to do the best for everyone, he needs to stand up to his sisters and also others that lead him astray.

  3. LOL, Anonymous, you can just write your name at the end, your first name or siggie will do. I will know it. Getting back to Mr. Bingley, A and Lynne, ok, I will give him a smack. Perhaps Darcy should duel with him...

  4. Let's not get carried away - a Duel?? - something a little less radical would also be appropriate. Perhaps a little "crow" for dinner for the whole Bingley family, and Jane finds a "man of consequence". I know that YOU always come up with something delicious!! Doris.

  5. First I know that you always do a great job! But I think he should be a man in the story, not a baby. A duel is a good idea, but I agree with A on this. Jane needs to find a "man of consequence", that way she is happy and Mr. Bingley gets a cum-uppences. no pun intended.

  6. It seems Mr. Bingley is not well liked, Doris and A. I don't want Darcy injured in a duel either, after all Lizzy and he are only newly married and they may not have made a Darcy heir yet. Perhaps Jane can get a gun...

  7. WooHoo! Now you're talking - everybody is going to grow some! Jane will be a wonder to deal with, sweet, docile Annie Oakley!! What a combination, just right for a "man of consequence" not some little ... anyway like where this is going. Would expound but I'm at work and I better "get to it". LOVE THE WAY YOU THINK. Can't wait for #3. Thank you for a little morning mental romp. Doris.
