Good deed till the end...

Some said that there were only two certainties in life - tax and death. This week in the New Inventors show in Australia, it featured an environmental friendly way of getting a burial.

Bio-pod

The bio-pod, a lined shroud which combined with the patented handle system, can take you from funeral service to the grave without the need for an un-environmentally friendly coffin.

The inventor and some likeminded individuals even created the Natural Earth Burial Society of Australia with the vision to see the majority of Australian's embrace a more natural, eco-sensitive approach to death, funerals and memorialisation.

Why am I interested in it? I love the show, probably my sci-fi mind at play here. And I've written a few short stories featuring ghosts. I'll post one here tomorrow.

  1. About time somebody thought of this! But I wonder: Will anyone use it?

  2. Bio-pod, huh? Hmmm. Well, it’s better than a full-blown casket. But, I’m wondering what’s wrong with good old cremation. All you need then is a Ball Jar and some wind. That’s about as bio friendly as it gets.

    Best Regards, Galen.

  3. Alex, the inventor has sold quite a bit of his invention, so there is definitely demand for it. Galen, I think the fire used up energy too, that's why such an invention.
