Emma and Knightley in space suits

I've stopped at vvb32, talking about Emma and Mr. Knightley from my new novel Every Savage Can Reproduce, Pride and Prejudice-inspired Science Fiction, early this month. Here is a teaser:

A moment later, what was left of the door of the mating capsule was pushed aside, and two heavily armed soldiers appeared in the opening, looking at them curiously.

“What have we got here? What a handsome couple! What are your names? Have you enjoyed the stay in the capsule?” the young woman of the pair asked cheerfully.

Before they could respond, the male officer said, “Why, Officer Woodhouse, don’t speak so foolishly. Clearly, they are fugitives from Earth. Let us follow protocol.”

“Captain Knightly, you’re no fun at all. What’s wrong with a bit of friendly…companionship?” Woodhouse responded.

Stepping forward, Elizabeth said, “I am Elizabeth Bennet, and this is my…friend, Fitzwilliam. We were attacked by the Military Intelligence Agency.” She waited for their reaction, hoping that the female officer’s friendliness meant that Darcy and she would come to no harm. She had no intention of telling them Darcy’s full name, as she didn’t want them to know that he was a close relative of the unpopular Queen of Planet Earth.

“I’m Emma,” the uniformed young woman stated. “Nice to meet you, Elizabeth! As to the MIA pursuit, we already know all about it. Only mating capsules chased by the MIA would be allowed to land here. We’ll have cruisers chasing the MIA away.”

“I don’t understand. Are you saying that you represent…a safe house for people from the mating capsules?”

“You could say that.”

“Where are we then? Can you help us get back to Planet Earth?”

“You’re on Planet Hartfield. Our ancestors migrated here because they didn’t like the crazy rules and pollution of Earth.”

“Emma, the protocol!” Captain Knightley objected with a frown.

“Fine, fine, sir! We must observe the protocol, Elizabeth and Fitzwilliam, or my dear Captain Knightley will be very unhappy. That means that we will have to scan you, first, to see if you are genuine articles.” – excerpt from Every Savage Can Reproduce

Among Doctor Who's many assistants, I like Rose (Billie Piper) best. Here is a tribute to her from YouTube, though her face and neck looks a bit elongated.

Alien's Mardi Gras

Looking at 1970s sci fi can be quite funny. The costume, pops are so very primitive as compared to today's computer generated animation. But there is rustic feel to this kind of sci fi.

I particularly like the "floats" in the middle of it. They are like Mardi Gras parade, than aliens' ships.

Popeye the shapeshifter?

Continuing the search for romantic sci-fi YouTube clips and guess what has shown up? Popeye the sailorman! Hmm, I wonder if he's one of the first shapeshifters. He has power muscles...

See Popeye doing some impossible tasks here. In Savage, there is a mad man called Logan. He's not a shapeshifter but he can mind control. I think it's quite handy, to freeze someone on the spot.

Romantic science fiction

Looking for some romantic science fiction clips at YouTube and found this one: Somewhere in Time. Love it but very sad...

You will find happy ending in all of my books, including the latest sci-fi Every Savage Can Reproduce. As I'm a cry baby myself, I try to stay away from writing tragedies.

Why do aliens have pointed ears?

Continuing on the alien's theme. This YouTube clip shows the makup technique of creating a cute alien. I wonder why they like to have pointed ears for aliens.

In Every Savage Can Reproduce, I haven't described how the andudas look like, except they are a hybrid of rat and kangaroo.

Who is the most evil villain in sci-fi?

I like the astronauts with gun fingers in this Doctor Who clip. They are faceless villains you can't traced. I've a Queen Immortal in my latest sci-fi. She has committed murder, kidnapping, suppression and one horrible evil, which only got to be revealed at the end of the book. Not sure how readers take her character...

Alien Anomalies

I talked about aliens in Every Savage Can Reproduce earlier. Here are some footage of aliens anomalies from NASA. Not sure how real are they though...

Where are the aliens?

With sci-fi, it seems natural to include some aliens. When I first started Every Savage Can Reproduce in 2009, I knew I wanted to include some aliens but had no clue how to invent them. So I used Ewoks temporarily then.

In the final version, I've the andudas:

Collins walked for nearly three miles before the monitor on his console suddenly beeped, indicating that another life form was nearby. He slowed his steps, using the shrubs and trees to hide his whereabouts. The life form is very near. But where is it?

“We are here!” The mechanical voices of some creatures startled Collins. He turned around and saw three andudas looking at him with wide eyes. Although Collins referred them as ‘giant rats’ to the Queen, andudas were in fact descendents of cats and kangaroos, with huge heads, hopping bodies and strong tails. Straightening, Collins cleared this throat and addressed them.

“Bill Collins here. I’m looking for the maximum security prison on your planet.”

“He looks cute, A2 and A3,” one of the andudas said, and the other two nodded in unison. The machine-like sound of its voice was eerie in such a dark, intense environment. Collins took a deep breath. I’m not afraid. Andudas are pets on Planet Earth. I’m much more intelligent than they are.

“I like his two strands of hair, and the powder on his face. The eyes looked yucky though, A3 and A1,” another of the andudas said. Once again, the other two nodded in unison.

“If you don’t know where the maximum security prison is, then don’t block my way, pets! I’ve important things to do!” Collins said, as he tried to ignore them and walk on.

“Pets? Do you think he’s from Planet Earth, A1 and A2? Is he one of those bad people on Earth who make our brothers into pets?” the third anduda said, and the other two nodded together. Their countenances turned menacing, and they approached Collins slowly.

Rocket sex

Cathay Pacific said it had launched a "full investigation" into photos allegedly showing a flight attendant performing oral sex on a pilot on board a plane of the Hong Kong carrier.

Several pixelated photos of the act have been published in local Chinese-language media, showing the woman in a red outfit resembling Cathay's cabin crew uniform giving oral sex to a man who the reports said was a pilot.

How does this relate to sci-fi month? Well, as you know, I write sexy romance, so I'm on constant look out for new locations for my hero and heroine to indulge in happy union. In Every Savage Can Reproduce, they started off in the mating capsule, then in a cave, a safehouse etc. Perhaps, next time, I should get them in a rocket...

Emma and Knightley

I mainly write Pride and Prejudice-inspired stories but some online fans have asked me to write about JA works too. I'm a bit reluctant because I don't know them as well as I do with P&P. But in Every Savage Can Reproduce, I've included many characters from other JA works.

Emma and Knightley are the ones I mentioned most, among other JA characters. In fact after the initial posting online, I've included a love scene for them. Why? I think their clash of personalities can be quite funny. Here is an example:

“Emma, the protocol!” Captain Knightley objected with a frown.

“Fine, fine, sir! We must observe the protocol, Elizabeth and Fitzwilliam, or my dear Captain Knightley will be very unhappy. That means that we will have to scan you, first, to see if you are genuine articles.”


“What do you mean by that?” Darcy asked.


“We encounter Military Intelligence Agency agents disguised as escapees, from time to time. We have to make sure you aren’t trying to infiltrate our planet in order to bring in restrictive ideas or viruses.” Emma explained.


Her partner prodded, “Emma, proceed with the protocol.”



“Yes, my dear Captain,” she said, and rolled her eyes at Knightley.

What is your favourite sci-fi romance?

For a sexy romance author, I'm rather conservative. My favourite one is in fact Terminator 1. I know some will find that predictable. But I can't explain it. It's just the one for me.

Invitation to the mating capsule

The adventure of Every Savage Can Reproduce starts with an invitation to the illegal mating capsule.

Mr. Darcy had heard that the illegal mating capsules were full of promising gadgets, including endless supplies of mechanized condoms, vibrators, food with aphrodisiac properties, performance-enhancing drugs, edible body paints and mating aides. If someone could imagine it, these capsules offered it. Projections of erotic fantasies could be ordered on demand. Even the hiring of men or women to conduct gay, lesbian or multiple-partner games was commonplace.

If you got an invitation from someone to such kind of establishment, will you be curious to go?
